Two ways to receive physical therapy from home
During this season, it’s important to stay home and keep your family safe. But it’s also important to continue your journey toward healing and pain relief, especially when it’s tempting to sit inside all day. Lack of exercise and canceled physical therapy appointments put you at risk for losing all the progress you’ve made toward regaining your ability to enjoy activities like golf, fishing or just playing with the grandkids. Fortunately, there are several options available that allow you to receive physical therapy from home.
Even when we are not in this season of pandemic, some patients are not able to come into the clinic to receive treatment due to injury or illness. In some cases, unreliable transportation limits a patient’s ability to schedule physical therapy appointments. At Franklin Rehab, we want to make treatment accessible to everyone. That is why we offer two different ways that patients can continue to receive the care they need from the comfort of their own homes.
Virtual physical therapy from home
We’ve partnered with several insurance companies to offer a virtual physical therapy option to our patients during the pandemic, and most insurances do not require a referral from your physician. Virtual therapy simply means that you will connect with your physical therapist via videoconference (information provided to you upon scheduling) to perform your physical therapy session. The only things needed to complete virtual physical therapy from home include:
- A good internet connection
- A device with internet and video capabilities
- A space in your home to move and stretch
- Comfortable clothes and shoes to exercise in
Your physical therapist will guide you through a personalized exercise session to keep you on track toward your goals — all from the comfort of your own home.
At-home physical therapy
If you still want the hands-on experience of physical therapy but are unable to leave your home, one of our physical therapists will come to you. You will still need a space in your home where you can stretch and move and comfortable clothes to exercise in, but otherwise, your physical therapist will bring all necessary equipment for the appointment. You can read more about our current at-home physical therapy policy to keep our patients and physical therapists safe and healthy during this time.
